BELOIT — Tim Shaffer began playing a cool jazz version of “Wichita Lineman” Sunday under the shelter at Nature at the Confluence in South Beloit. With more than a half-century of guitar playing, the notes played out smooth and flawless.
Shaffer was one of more than 20 musical acts performing for free at over a dozen locations in the Greater Beloit area during Make Music Day. Sunday marked the fourth year Make Music Day has been held in Beloit. A variety of genres were offered Sunday including folk, country, rock, Latin, big band and more.
Cool jazz was Shaffer’s specialty. This marked his first year at Make Music Day, although he has played at G5 Brewing Company in Beloit and Rascal’s Bar and Grill in Loves Park, Illinois.
