BELOIT – People will be able to explore the rich history of the Beloit area during Heritage Days, set for Sept. 11 — 13.
The weekend deep dive into local history will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Heritage Days had its beginnings in 1976 as the United States celebrated its bicentennial.
“It went on hiatus for a few years, but in 1987, during the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution, it began again through a partnership between the Beloit Historical Society, Beloit College, and the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution,” said Donna Langford, executive director of the Beloit Historical Society. “That year we did the first Heritage Day Museum Walk.”
