BELOIT — This year has presented several challenges for farmers, but the farmers who sell the fruits of their labors at the Beloit Farmers Market say adaptability is key in the farming business.
Rising fuel, seed and fertilizer costs have been obstacles this year, but there also were the troubles handed to them by Mother Nature.
“There was a late frost. That will be more trouble for fruit growers,” said Victoria Meyersm whose son, Tyler, owns Meyers Family Farms of Capron, Illinois. “Luckily, we’ve been able to adapt.
Susan Wright of Wright Way Farms, which is located west of Beloit, said high fuel prices have had an impact on her business.
