BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) – The Downtown Beloit Farmers’ Market returns this Saturday, May 2, marking the start of another season for one of Wisconsin’s longest-running and largest weekly markets.

The open-air market will be held every Saturday from May through October, running from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along State Street and Grand Avenue in downtown Beloit.

The Beloit market has been a staple of the city’s downtown for more than 50 years, beginning in the mid-1970s and growing into what organizers describe as the second-largest farmers’ market in Wisconsin.

In peak summer months, the market regularly attracts thousands of shoppers each week and features more than 100 vendors selling locally grown produce, baked goods, plants, meats, cheeses, flowers and handmade products.

Organized by the Downtown Beloit Association, the market is designed as a place to buy fresh food, and as a driver of economic activity for surrounding businesses.
