BELOIT — Although the temperatures were a bit cool, in the mid to upper 40s, on Saturday morning, the sun was shining and there was a scent of spring in the air.
Visitors to downtown Beloit were greeted by blooming flowers and some early produce from the garden as the 50th Downtown Beloit Farmers Market kicked off on State Street and Grand Avenue.
Joe Parr from Parr Acres Farms near Monroe, was happy to offer some fresh rhubarb and asparagus which he had raised at his farm. But, he had lots more that customers were interested in, such as his jams, jellies, preserves, applesauce and syrup.
