BELOIT ― Cassie Steffek and her teammates hunched over piles of puzzle pieces as they tried to assemble their puzzle in record time.Â
Steffek, and her team members were among eight teams competing in the Beloit Art Center Puzzle Competition.Â
The puzzle competition was one of the warm, indoor activities planned this past weekend during Beloit’s Winterfest. While the mercury in the thermometers across the Stateline Area sunk below zero, people still could have fun at indoor events planned for the winter weekend.Â
Although some events, such as the open skate events at the Edwards Ice Arena and the horse-drawn sleigh rides at Big Hill Park, were canceled due to the extreme cold, other events continued and many people turned out for a little mid-winter fun.
